The Privacy Protection (Transfer of Data to Databases Abroad) Regulations, 5761-2001 are Israeli privacy regulations that govern the transfer of personal data from databases located in Israel to databases or entities outside the country. Issued under the Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, the regulations require that personal data may only be transferred to countries that provide an adequate level of privacy protection comparable to Israeli law, or where specific legal conditions are met. These conditions include obtaining the data subject's consent, transferring data under contractual safeguards, transferring data within a controlled corporate group, or transferring data to jurisdictions recognized as providing adequate privacy protections.
