Nevada Chapter 603A - Security and Privacy of Personal Information is a Nevada state law that establishes requirements for the protection of personal information maintained by businesses, data collectors, and other organizations. The law requires entities that collect or maintain personal information to implement and maintain reasonable security measures to protect data from unauthorized access, acquisition, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure. Chapter 603A also includes provisions for the secure disposal of records, data breach notification obligations, encryption requirements for certain payment card data, consumer privacy notices for information collected online, and consumer rights regarding the sale of covered information. In addition, the chapter contains provisions governing consumer health data and grants enforcement authority to the Nevada Attorney General. The law is designed to promote data security, privacy protection, and responsible handling of personal information by organizations operating in or serving Nevada residents.
